Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and since it’s on the weekend I decided to make my loves a Strawberry and Chocolate Waffle Brunch Board!
I love a good charcuterie board and we all love brunch, especially waffles lately, so this was a no brainer I knew they’d love. Yes I surprised them a little early, it’s going to be a couple weeks of extra love this year I decided.
Last year I bought single 4″ waffle makers (we have 2) for the kids to make waffles during the week and for me to make extras for toaster waffles since everyone is working/learning from home. They are quick and much easier than the kids, or myself, breaking out the big Belgian waffle maker. They are Dash and sold at many stores, including Target, and online only $10 each and worth every penny. When I saw there was a cute heart one and I had an email for 20% off and it was in stock for local curbside pick up I had to grab one knowing this is what I’d do with it. Even if it was full price ($10) on Amazon I would have ordered it.
I decided to make Chocolate Waffles and Strawberry Waffles for our board. While it was more waffles than we needed for the board (shown is 1/4 a batch of each, the hearts make about twice as many waffles as the 4″ waffle maker) they are perfect for reheating and toasting up during the week for breakfast and the chocolate wants even work as a quick and easy dessert topped with a scoop of ice cream and your favorite toppings.
Toppings are all up to you, I say use what you like and what you have on hand. We used raspberry chia jam because we had some to use (but could easily sub a strawberry jam or puree), Hu Chocolate Gems, homemade chocolate sauce, whipped cream (could sub yogurt), and fresh berries. Only thing maybe missing is peanut butter but I save that for leftover chocolate waffles.
If you ask me you don’t need a holiday or special reason to make a Strawberry and Chocolate Waffle Brunch Board, any weekend or day you have a little extra time will do. Anything to bring joy and happiness to the every day.

Strawberry Waffles
Strawberry Waffles are a fun way to switch up traditional waffles with a hint of strawberry. Top with whipped cream or yogurt and more strawberries or strawberry puree for a delicious treat.
2TBSP defrosted pitaya cubes, optional for color*(Pitaya Plus)
Instructions
Pre-heat your waffle iron.
Blend milk and pitaya if using together until smooth so you don't have pieces.
Add yogurt, eggs, and oil to your milk mixture and whisk until combine.
In a large bowl mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt together.
Add wet ingredients to the dry and whisk until combine and there are no lumps.
Spray waffle iron and cook waffles per your waffle makers instructions.
Place cooked waffles on a wire rack, placing on a plate if not eating right away they'll get soggy.
Enjoy!
Recipe Notes
*Or sub 2 tablespoons pureed defrosted frozen strawberries for more flavor, but not as much color, or you can use food coloring if desired.

Chocolate Waffles
Chocolate Waffles are a sweet treat to any brunch or even great for dessert. Not as sweet as brownie waffles but just the right amount and perfect for all the decadent toppings like your favorite berries, whipped cream or yogurt, and chocolate sauce!
The best $8 spent! 😉 I have heart shaped silicone muffin liners (you just put them on a rimmed baking sheet to bake) and they’re great for not only baking but putting snacks in. No clue where my grandmother got them though.
Thank you!
I thought we’d be all over the chocolate, we are, but the strawberry are so good and disappeared first. Not a bad thing we enjoyed the chocolate for dessert! 😉
