I started this blog almost a year ago and I wanted to some fun recipes as we approach the 1 year mark. Smoothies and shakes are something we make a lot of and that I post often so I knew that I wanted to make one for to share this week. I asked the girls what they wanted to make and we came up with this Reach for the Stars Strawberry Banana Protein Smoothie! We layered ours, added some whipped cream, sugar cookie wands, and sprinkles. Dress it up, dress it down, this is a great smoothie to sip before you get out there and chance down your dreams, or whatever is on your to do list!
Reach for the Stars Strawberry Banana Protein Smoothie
Makes 2 servings
2 3/4 c, divided, almond milk, or non dairy milk of choice (used So Delicious Unsweetened Almond Milk Plus)
2 frozen bananas
1 scoop protein, optional (used Vega Protein Smoothie, Oh Natural also could use Viva Vanilla, used Vega Performance Protein Vanilla in mine, not pictured, with no frills but just as delicious!)
1-1 1/2 c frozen Strawberries
coconut milk whipped cream and sprinkles, optional
In a Vitamix, or high-speed blender, blend together 2 cups of milk, bananas, and protein until smooth. Remove 2 cups of the smoothie and place in a large cup, or if you don’t want striped layers pour mixture into two cups. Add remaining 3/4 cup milk and strawberries and blend until smooth. If you don’t want the stripes add on top of the banana in each cup. To make the striped layers you will want to have both mixtures thick and the same consistency to layer. If you need to place the smoothies mixtures in the freezer briefly before layering thicken. Alternating between the banana and strawberry layer the smoothie. It works best to hold a spoon into the cup and pour mixture onto the smooth instead of directly on the layer before or it will pour into the middle. Top with whipped cream and sprinkles if desired. Enjoy!
As a Vega Recipe Ambassador I receive Vega products, which I used as an option in this recipe. I use Vega not because it is given to me but because it has been my plant-based protein of choice since before I started blogging and some recipes are made with Vega products I purchase. I only write about foods I love, my blog is an extension of my hobby to make fun healthy food creations for me and my family.

So cute! And I know I would literally reach for the stars (cookies!) first! Happy anniversary!

Thank you! LOL surprisingly the girls didn’t eat the cookies first. Thank you so much for your support! My first actual blog post was a year ago this Saturday, I still can’t believe it. Even though I haven’t been posting daily anymore today was my 365 post! I can’t wait to see what this year brings.

Thank you! My first year went so much better than I had imagined and I wonder why I waited so long and didn’t listen to others sooner but really it still comes down to doing this because I love it and will keep going as long as I have this passion inside me. Can’t believe I posted 365 recipes so far. You will have to make it for your daughter, mine love it and love having fun and playing in the kitchen. I actually encourage playing with food in our house. 😉
