Two Overnight Oat Graveyard Cups with mini pumpkins and spoon
Overnight Oat Graveyard Cups

Dead tired but luckily I have Overnight Oat Graveyard Cups to save the morning! Already made healthy breakfast that has chocolate, and optional coffee?! No tricks this one is a real treat!!

Halloween is only a couple days away, still wondering where the year has gone, and I decided to have a little fun with breakfast like we use to. For years I made Halloween themed smoothies, and other foods, for the girls (and myself) for breakfast. Boo Nana Smoothies, Jack-o-Lantern Shakes, Freaky Frankenstein Smoothies, and Wicked Web Smoothies are just a few of them. I haven’t shared one since 2016!?!

The girls have gotten older but we’ve still made fun Halloween themed foods, like last years Peanut Butter Cup Spider Donuts. Covering my eyes thinking about that one as they weren’t healthy but donuts were one of my top pregnancy cravings.

Not going to lie, and NOT RUSHING TIME IT’S ALREADY FLYING BY, but I’m excited to have fun and play in the kitchen with Baby G! Again WHEN the time comes, no rush.

The smoothies were all about getting a healthy nutrition packed breakfast before all the school parties, candy, and trick or treating. Smoothies are still a staple but I decided to switch things up a little this year and plan ahead since mornings are crazy here and I rarely have time to whip something together and if I do I won’t know until I wake up as life still revolves around Baby G’s schedule and most nights lately we’re back to not sleeping well and I’m tired in the morning.

So this year I swapped the staple smoothies for another staple, one I really wish I was more on top of, overnight oats! I always mean to prep them but often forget whe I don’t’ have time to make another staple that I can’t wait to share with you.

Overnight Oat Graveyard Cups

These Overnight Oat Graveyard Cups are really perfect for any morning, with or without the chocolate décor on top. The best part is they’re healthy, made with simple ingredients, are customizable, and take only minutes to make!

You only need 2-3 whole food ingredients not counting toppings and optional additions, with those you’re still looking at only 5-6. I bet you even have everything you need to make them in your kitchen right now!

Do you have oats? Muesli or chia seeds? How about non dairy milk or a non dairy milk beverage? If you said YES to all 3 you have the basics to throw these cups together! I mean we both know you probably have chocolate. 😉 Add it on top or save it for later tonight either way enjoy it and it will be a good day.

For these I used rolled oats, Seven Sundays Early Riser Muesli (with chocolate already in it), and Ripple Plant-based Milk and Ripple Acai Plant-based beverage for the girls and Rebbl Maca Cold Brew (Maca Mocha, no coffee, is my other go to). When I don’t have muesli or want to switch it up with other flavors I use chia seeds. From there you can add in collagen, adaptogens, or protein powder to meet your nutritional needs and add more milk to reach desired texture.

For the Halloween themed toppings I used cacao nibs, chia seeds, and cacao powder (also added a little in to up to nutrition as I have Navitas Organics Cacao Powder + Reishi), and a piece of Hu Hazelnut Butter Chocolate. If you’re making this any other time of the year you can add the same toppings or switch them up for chopped chocolate, nut butter, berries or other fruit, or anything that strikes the mood.

Any day that starts with breakfast already made and chocolate has to be a good day!

Are you a fan of overnight oats? Warm or cold? Yes you can warm them up, a staple here during Minnesota winters when you don’t have time to cook a bowl of cozy oatmeal.

It’s Meatless Monday and there are more great recipes linked up below and as always Deborah and I hope you join us and look forward to what’s cooking in your kitchen!

  3. Cover and place in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or overnight.

Recipe Notes

*To make without muesli I like to use 1/2 cup oats and 1 TBSP chia seeds.

*If it's cold you can heat your overnight oats up in the morning. This is why I like to wait to add in additions and toppings until morning after I heat if I decide to do so.

*If you want to grab and go you can add in optional additions and add extra 1/2 cup of milk. After you've made it once or twice you'll know what consistency you like and how much additional milk/beverage to add with additions you like. If you want to add in to start and grab and go I recommend adding in the extra 1/2 cup of milk if you are adding any options and/or if you don't like your oats really thick. You can add toppings or put into a separate container to add just before enjoying.

Like it, PIN it for later!
