If there is ever a sample at Costco that sucks me in it’s those dark chocolate acai and blueberries! If I buy a bag the family downs them in no time. Those darn delicious little berries popped into my head one day and I decided I would make a Chocolate Super Berry Smoothie! This way I get the chocolate and berry flavors with an antioxidant, protein, and superfood punch that I can feel good about. I also love the cranberry ones and I stock up on fresh cranberries when they are in season and store them in the freezer because I often get a craving for them when they aren’t in season or hard to find other than dried cranberries or those cranberries in a can. I have noticed there are frozen ones now. Weather you have all three blueberries, cranberries, and acai smoothie packets in the freezer or acai powder or just one or two you can use what you have. Have raspberries but no acai use those! While I love the taste of all three together, or adding raspberries and two of the other berries, I always like to think of my recipes as inspiration and encourage you to tweak to suit your needs or what you have on hand when it makes sense. Next time you are at the store and see acai packets on sale grab some, or maybe you really like this smoothie try it with another combination of berries next time to switch things up. Already getting the antioxidants from the berries I also decided to add a little cacao for an extra superfood boost. I switch up the protein/nutritional shake powder I use based on my needs for the day. You know your body and your needs better than anyone so use what makes sense for you. I think the next time I go to Costco on a crazy Friday afternoon, if you’ve been on Friday or weekend day you know what I’m talking about, when I know the samples are usually out I will grab one of those Chocolate Super Berry Smoothies to fuel my shopping before hand!
Chocolate Super Berry Smoothie
Makes 1 serving
1c non dairy milk (used Silk Unsweetened Cashew Milk)
1 scoop chocolate protein powder (used Vega Performance Protein, Chocolate today)*
1/4-1/3c frozen blueberries
1/4-1/3c frozen cranberries
1/2 frozen acai smoothie packet, or sub acai powder or more of the other berries (used Sambazon Acai packet)
1 TBSP cacao powder (used Navitas Naturals Raw Organic Cacao Powder)
*I use the protein powder/nutritional shake that fits my needs for the day. My favorite is Vega so I use Vega Performance Protein, Protein Smoothie, Vega One, Vega Protein and Greens, or Vega Essentials.
In a Vitamix, or high-speed blender, blend everything together until smooth. Enjoy!

While I do receive some Vega products from time to time, which I listed as an option in this recipe, I do purchase much of it on my own. It has been my plant-based protein of choice since before I started blogging. Even though most Vega products used are purchased by myself I do add this disclaimer. I do not make any money off any Vega sales or posts. I only write about foods I love, my blog is an extension of my hobby to make fun healthy food creations for me and my family.

We are all about the acai smoothies over here. I never would have thought to add chocolate flavor with them but why not?!

Yes you will have to give it a try, if not the smoothie those darn Brookside Chocolate Covered Acai and Blueberries, but a small bag at Target not the jumbo because they are dangerous! Maybe on second thought you should just try the shake or a smoothie bowl! 😉

Mine too! Costco doesn’t have the acai packets, they have the Brookside Chocolate Covered Acai and Blueberries, I wish they had the frozen acai packets there! I saw them there once, or thought I did, but I had a bunch at home and then I can’t recall seeing them again. I’m out now and will have to check when I go shopping tomorrow.

YES! With that I’m running to the kitchen I think to make some overnight oats in the almost empty PB&Co Dark Chocolate Dreams container we have! Or maybe I’ll just put warm oats since it is suppose to snow…. either way I have an epic chocolate pb creation in the fridge I can’t wait to test in the morning with it! Darn you got me excited about chocolate before bed…. 😉
