Caramel Apple Protein Shake

I have a weakness for apples, pumpkins, and many of the flavors of fall. Caramel apples are a must with apples we pick and were my inspiration for this shake! I made this shake countless times last fall and I have a feeling this fall will be no different.

Caramel Apple Protein Shake

Makes 1 serving

1c almond, or non dairy milk (used So Delicious Unsweetened Almond Milk Plus)

1 apple, cored and sliced, with or without peel,  pick an apple you would pair with caramel (used a cold whole apple with peel)

1 scoop vanilla or chai protein powder (used Vega One)

1tsp coconut palm sugar (used Navitas Naturals Coconut Palm Sugar)

ice, optional

“Caramel” Drizzle

Makes 2-4 servings

2 TBSP Almond Butter (use MaraNatha All Natural Roasted Almond Butter or I also like to use Justin’s Vanilla Almond Butter gives it a slightly more “salted caramel flavor I think)

2 TBSP Raw or Amber Agave

1/2tsp vanilla

In a small bowl mix together almond butter, agave, and vanilla. Place a tablespoon or so into a plastic bag and snip the end to pipe caramel into the glass to make swirl. You could also mix some into the smoothie, top it with a little, or however you want to add it. In a Vitamix, or high-speed blender, blend together milk, protein powder, coconut palm sugar, apple (minus one slice for garnish), and ice until smooth. Pour into a glass and garnish with remaining apple slice dipped into the caramel. Enjoy!

As a Vega Recipe Ambassador I receive Vega products, which I used as an option in this recipe. I use Vega not because it is given to me but because it has been my plant-based protein of choice since before I started blogging and some recipes are made with Vega products I purchase. I only write about foods I love, my blog is an extension of my hobby to make fun healthy food creations for me and my family.
